I realize you are a grown, smart woman, but I have to tell you that tongue piercing has the possibility to get really infected. Our mouths are SO dirty. Sorry, just the nurse in me. I wanted a nose stud once, but realized people can see right up my nose and they would see the inside, probably with boogers stuck to it. The belly thing is a cute idea!
Well, any piercing has the possibility of becoming infected. I am more concerned with the rats pulling on it! :-?

I realize there is always the possibility for any piercing, but the tongue is just a little more possible. And I hadn't even thought about the rats!! OMG!!!
Yeah. They love to try to steal my jewelry, and they love to stick their heads in my mouth... that combination can't bode well.

You do NOT have a big nose!
It is, too. I thought about the boogers thing too, even though my nostrils aren't usually exposed. I have a constantly stuffed-up nose though, so I think it might me gross, and possibly painful when I blow. I think the navel is my best bet, and the tongue after that, if I still don't feel I have enough.

Well, whenever you come up here to visit again, we could take a trip to Infinite. They have a fantastically good reputation for a reason. And, I've been wanting to get my nostril done, so I'm up for a trip to Infinite. =)
Don't people usually wait until their 40s to have a midlife crisis? You've got eons to go yet. No crises yet, okay? =D
Oh, that would be cool! I'm still deciding on the nostril, but I'm definately up for a nice navel piercing! =)

I've had my nose pierced for about 5 years now. Colds aren't really a problem; stuff doesn't really accumulate as much as you'd think. It can have a tendancy to flare up and get a little swollen if I have a cold or flu if I'm wearing a stud at the time, so I have a simple ball-closure stainless steel ring for those occasions. Doesn't affect my breathing at all, and the rats have never tried to swing from it. :-)
And there are so many pretty nose studs and rings out there for pierced noses now!!

Oh, that's good to know! That was my major concern, though I still have my doubts about my thieving little rats... :)

Hehe. You could always drive all the way to Pittsburgh and go to Hot Rod in Oakland. It's where I get my piercing done.
No shit, you go there? I saw their website too, from the APP. Are they really good?

I like them a lot. I go to the Oakland location; I've been pierced by Tim and by Chris. Both were nice and good; my experience with them was quite pleasant. I prefer Tim slightly; he's friendlier. But they were both skilled and careful. The front desk staff are also nice.
I've never tried the South Side location, so can't give any comments on that one.
Friendly is good, as are skilled and careful... but what I really need is "patient with weenies!" =D

Hm. I suspect they're patient, but I was all resolved when I went in there the first time (I'd had a bad day and I was *determined*), so they didn't have to be. Tim was really nice to a friend of mine when she got woozy, and got her water and made sure she was feeling OK before having her stand up, and he checked again before we left that she was fine. So that was good.

It's pretty hard to see in this pic:
but that's two of my piercings from them--the second one in the lobe, and the helix piercing at the top of the ear. The lobe piercing, iirc, was $30 including the jewelry, and the helix was $35.
Helix, that's what it's called! I knew there was a name for it! How long did it take for yours to heal? Is it pretty fast with the needle? That's one thing I like about the gun; at least it's quick. Do you have your navel done?

Oh, God, guns *suck*. I had the original piercings in my ears done with a gun (when I was 11), and, OW. There's a lot more damage and they definitely take longer in general to heal--my gun piercings took a long time, and they got infected every other second.
The needle piercings in my lobes stopped hurting when I touched them within a day, never got infected, and didn't hurt to be pulled on (they were pierced with hoops) within a week. It's just as fast on the piercing time as a gun, but a smaller wound and a lot less pain overall.
The helix took a lot longer to heal, and I had to clean it more carefully because the curve of the ear collects gunk. I don't even want to think about having had that done with a gun. *shudder*
I don't have my navel done, no, and probably won't ever. I probably will have my nipples done within the next year, though.
Really??? Wow, fortunately I never had those problems with my lobe piercings! What's done is done, so I'll just cross my fingers for the helix piercing and do things differently in the future.
Stupid question, but how can you tell when it's healed?

You're lucky. Or maybe I'm unlucky. :D
I could tell that my helix was healed when I could tug on it and not only not have it hurt *then*, but not have it flare up later in the day.
The action of the hoop through the piercing is stiff, not like a lobe piercing; I can flip the hoop up and down, but if I want to slide it back and forth, it takes effort because the cartilage doesn't have any yield to it.
Oooh, cool. So far, it only hurts if I poke at it (yeah, I know, stop poking it) or like yesterday when Rusty went to hug me and accidentily bumped it. Otherwise I can't feel it at all.
Actually, the type of piercing you've gotten is "cartilge". Some places call it a helix, which is like really weird because I *have* what is typically called a "helix" and that's like far forward then what you have. I also have cartilge, so I'm soooo not sure.
It'd be safer to say you have cartilge. To see what I'm talking about, go to my info page and click the photos of me link. There you will see all my ear piercings. The hoop with the red ball is my "helix" one.
Yes, I'm going to look for the salt thing.

I figured it out! I have a helix, you have a helix and a forward helix. See: http://www.infinitebody.com/gallery/ear/earcen.html. Yours looks really cool, btw!
Yay!! Someone found out!! Cool! And thanks =)

Yeah... now I just need a chart for the rest of the body! LOL

DOO EET, DOO EET! Get zee tongue piercing. I want one desperately, but am never able to justify spending enough to get it done (I am permanently scraping by). So I see it as my mission to get everyone else's pierced instead. :D
I think I'll go with that...
"But honey, I'm doing it for Cheryl!" =D
