We don't hae HBO, so I've never even seen Sex in the City or The Sopranos, but I have to concur on the Sarah Jessica Parker thing. She's so annoying, too. Her whole shtick is, "Hey I'm petulant!"
Touched by an Angel -- I saw that a few times and thought I might die of saccharine overload. Buh. Guh. Urgh.
ELR is tolerable, I guess. I only watch the last few minutes because something or other comes on after it, so I somehow manage to see the last few minutes every time.
I also don't get the ER thing. I don't watch ER. I've tried to watch it a few times, and I find it to be very boring. Law and Order, too. You'd think I might like it, but I don't. Ice T is amusingly bad in that one that he's in, though.
7th Heaven! I can only assume that it touches on some sweet, nice little morality thing that people appreciate. I find it disgusting, because I am mean like that.

I have only seen clips of SITC, but that was enough to convince me that I can't watch it. SJP is SO gross.
We do watch ER, and I like it because I like the characters (Luka, yum). We also watch the original Law and Order, but we never got into the off-shoots, like the one Ice T is on. We have seen them a couple of times, but they never really 'took'.

Maybe if I got into ER in the beginning, I'd be able to watch it, but instead I never have any idea what's going on.
Sarah Jessica Parker is kinda horselike. Also, her fashion sense frightens me.
Ice T is a very bad actor. That's all I can say about that.
Interesting - I dislike *cough*hate*cough* those TV shows too.
Really! Because sometimes I feel like the only person in the world who doesn't just *love* this crap...
It means you have taste. ;)
Holy smoke... Renee..
*My wife and I are CONSTANTLY saying "Um, NOOOOOO, NOT everyone loves raymond! We hate him!"
*Touched by an angel is just sappy.
*The Sopranos is the most overrated show on TV. Period. Totally inauthentic (is that a word?).
*I've never watched The West Wing so I don't know about it.
*Sex In The City I actually watch with Helene. The first few seasons were pretty good actually. It was decent, no-brainer entertainment. But the last 2 seasons have sucked. I agree with you about SJP.. she's rough lol.
What are the shows you DO like? Mine are/were:
*The X-Files - Amazing writing and filming. Like watching a movie every week.
*Seinfeld - Do I really need to explain why?
*Friends - No-brainer entertainment that actually has characters you can like!
Peace,
Dave
* I used to like the X-Files, though I stopped watcheng after Ducovney left.
* I LOVE Seinfeld. I still watch the reruns on Fox.
* Friends - we never ever miss it - great characters, esp Chandler. I would marry Chandler.
* Frasier - great show, we rarely miss it.
* I miss Dharma & Greg, I really liked that show.
* Drama - we watch ER and NYPD Blue, usually Law & Order.
* News - The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes on Fox News Channel.
* Home Improvement - we are addicted to Trading Spaces on TLC.
* Cartoons - Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life.
We watch a lot of TV. =)
LOL.. yeah so I see.
Looks like we have most of the same taste in TV, though I don't watch as much as you :)
I love the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes too! Which are you, Hannity or Colmes?
-Dave
Well, it isn't *quite* as bad as it sounds, because like with reading, I find it really hard to pay attention to most shows. Rusty laughs at me, because I never know if I'm watching a rerun, because I paid so little attention the first time. We're watching Steven Speilberg's Taken (a mini-series) on Sci-Fi right now, and I usually watch it the current episode at 9 and again at 11pm, and STILL can't follow the damned thing! It's Short Attention Span Theater, here. LOL
As for Hannity & Colmes, it depends on the issue, really. I like a lot of Sean's points, but he comes off as fanatical and politically-right-whether-it's-right-or-not to me sometimes. Conversely, I like some of [can't think of his first name] Colme's points too, but he seems to make them rather weakly at times. I think politically, I am more like Bill O'Reilly than either of them. What about you?
Short Attention Span Theater... now that is laughs! I know you've said you have a hard time concentrating. I wish I had some advice for ya, but I don't know much about ADD. :(
How is Taken? Is it as good as it looks in the commercials?
I tend to agree with you. I find myself agreeing with Hannity 85% of the time. Like you said, once in awhile he comes off a bit 'too fanatical' and just goes 'right' for the sake of going 'right'. Colme's points are almost always weak. He gets crushed by Hannity on almost every issue because like you said, he has good points sometimes but presents them poorly. He also strikes me as going 'left' for the sake of going 'left'.
I like Bill O'Reilly because he is no-nonsense. So yet again, I agree with you! LOL
We should be best friends, we agree on almost everything! LOL
-Dave
Taken - the plot is really good, but I have two problems with it:
* The fake aliens are REALLY cheesy. I try not to harp on that point too much though, since I've never seen real aliens for comparison - for all I know, real aliens may look every bit as cheesy as the fake ones. ;)
* They jump around too much. They show several families being affected by the aliens and/or the military people tracking the aliens, and they jump from short scene to short scene showing what the different people are up to. It is an ongoing saga, from the 50's until now, so sometimes characters are rapidly aged from night to night, and I often don't recognise who's who from one episode to the next. It's better now (in the 1980's) than it was when it was the 1950's and all the characters looked the same to me. I find it really hard to follow, though a lot of that may just be me.
Talking heads - yeah, Hannity has a lot of good points, but it bothers me when people *always* take the republican (or the democrats) side, just because they're a republican or a democrat. My grandmother is like that; she's a republican, and it doesn't matter what the republicans say, they're automatically right, and democrats are automatically wrong. I can't do that, just like I could never vote straight-ticket, because there ARE shades of grey. Colmes (dammit, what is his name?) is a little too passive for me, but more than that, I just don't think he's a particularly good debator. I would like to see him replaced with James Carvel.
You know what surprises me, since we're on the subject? The fact that Bill O stays with the Catholic church. He is SO vocal about childrens' issues otherwise (it's the only time he ever loses is, when he talks about cases of child abuse), and yet, even though he has called for harsher punishment of abusive priests, he still stays with the church. It seems to me that he would leave, as sticking with them is in effect condoning it. As far as I know, there aren't a lot of aspects of Catholicism that can't be found in other Christian churches, so why stay and support such nonsense? Weird...
Yeah I hear ya. It's been VERY hard for me to not rip the church in my journal. I guess I feel it would be utterly disrespectful to the people who have deep ties to it. BUT, in saying that, i agree with you 100% about Bill O. Just remember though, even though a lot of aspects of Catholicism can be found in other Christian churches, many catholics (including the pope himself) believe the catholic church to be the ONLY church - and that other churches are apostate. So when you're brought up believing that, it's VERY hard to leave it - though i agree that personal principles should take presidence over church loyalty.
-Dave
Yeah, I guess that's it. It's just a hard concept for me to understand, having had the liberty to chose my faith, instead of being born into it. :\

all i really look forward to is alias, buffy, angel & trading spaces (ty and/or doug editions).
(oh and i passed by a pizza joint with hot breadsticks tempting from the window... i thought of you! tomorrow, i indulge!!)
{i kinda like the former, in a sick-shallow kinda way}
Hahaha! I used to watch Melrose Place for the same reason. =D
I like Buffy, but it's up against something else we watch, so I rarely get to see it. When the prices drop, I want to get the first three seasons on DVD... Angel is yummy!
