Definitely cute!

I need to get the shots of our little black pups up. 6 berks and 4 hoodeds total...and we think we might have 3 russian blues. Oddly enough, all 3 potential russian blues are rex, but they definitely look lighter than their sibs.

I've had most of the pocket pets at one time or another - mice, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, even ferrets and a rabbit - and rats are FAR superior pets. They're so much more interactive than the others. And boy rats are the best of all! :)

Deck the Halls

You are 'Deck the Halls'! Let's be honest, it isn't Christmas you are celebrating, is it?
In fact, you know full well that there were no shepherds in the fields in December,
and that the date of Christmas was put at midwinter specifically to coincide with the older celebrations of Yule and the birth of Mithras. An unashamed Pagan, you take great glee
in the number of carols referring to holly, evergreens and Winter's end,
and will sing them with gusto. You know where they really came from.
And you do enjoy the seasonal celebrations, regardless of their name... A merry Yule to you!

What Christmas Carol are you?

Ran the usual errands; went to the post office, the bank, stopped at Petsmart. Bought a ton of gelt (chocolate coins for Hanukkah) and cookie tins with cute penguin designs at Jo-Ann's.

I even stopped at Kmart and bought stupid boring winter stuff: a snow shovel and gloves and kleenex. And I went to the supermarket and bought more nuts in the shell - the one really good thing about winter, nuts in the shell. I already had a big bowl of mixed nuts, but I had to buy extra almonds and hazelnuts, because we picked all of those out already. Tasty, they are.

And now I need to take more aspirin and work on my scarf. Bah.

It's not sticking too much to the roads here, although I think that might change! I thought it was supposed to snow at night and then stop by the morning, but the snow is actually much heavier now than it was at all last night. Giant fluffy flakes.

I took Polly out to pee and she was distinctly unimpressed. I think if there were more snow on the ground, she might like it more, but as it is her paws just got cold and she turned right around and headed back in the house. :D

Besides, it's not like we're putting out a nativity scene; X-mas has always been completely secular for us. Hey, when you have time, would you mind translating this pattern into English:

-Row 1:

3 dc in 4th ch from hook (3sipped chs count as a dc and a ch-1 sp)

*sk next 2 chs, 3 DC in next ch*

Repeat from * to last 2 chains. Skip next ch, DC in last ch, Chain 2, Turn.

-Row 2:

2 DC b'ween first DC and next 3-DC group

*3 DC in between each DC Group*

Repeat from * ending 1 DC under turning chain. Chain 2, Turn

-Repeat Row 2

I'd really like to make an afghan, but it would take forever in the solid DC.
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/7/2003 6:48:31 PM

PS - I found it here: http://www.sirgalahad.org/fuzzycraft/archives/bydate/03-10/10-02-03j.html
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/7/2003 7:22:14 PM

BTW - My first afghan was worked in dc, BUT it was done holding 2 strands of worsted together throughout. It worked up *super* quick. Took me 3 days (not bad for a first time afghan)

From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/7/2003 7:29:55 PM

That is SO pretty! How big is it? Didn't the hook get tangled using two yarns at the same time? I get mine stuck between the plies just using ONE yarn! I have two skeins of Lion Brand Thick 'n Quick cheneille, but I can't see my stitches to work with it. :\
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/7/2003 8:09:07 PM

Thanks! It's about 60" x 36" I think, I never measured it lol I made it for my oldest daughter. The hook never got tangled, but I'm a fairly tight crocheter so I rarely have the splitting or tangling problem since my yarn is held in a death grip *laughs* I love those textured yarns, but jeez, they are a pain to see what you're doing. The upside is that if you can't see a screwup, neither can anyone else *winks*
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/7/2003 8:16:40 PM

My stitches are tight too, but I thought that would make things harder. Still, you know more than I, so I will give the two strand thing a try.

Some of the textured yarn is so pretty; the cheneile (LOVE cheneille!) and the Homespun, and the hairy (eyelash?) stuff. I hope someday I will be able to use them, but as it is now, I can barely do the chainstitch with them, and can't see at all to work from it.

I think I may try a round hat for Rusty next (I found the Caron Simply soft in two shades of green). Either that or the afghan.

*sigh*
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/7/2003 8:33:28 PM

It's probably just a personal preference of mine, I'm sure there's people out there that hate tight crochet & think looser is much easier - gotta go with whatever works best for you :)

Eyelash is really easy to work with (at least I think so) because the core is one nylon strand so you can't split it. In knitting there's the off chance you might accidently miss or drop a stitch, but it'd be harder to do that with crochet. I've knit 3 scarves with eyelash & didn't have a problem with any of them :)

So many projects,so little time! lol
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/8/2003 8:32:13 AM

I think the tighter stitches LOOK better, but it seems like it would be easier if they were a bit looser.

Next time I'm out, I think I'll get a ball of purple eyelash, just to try...
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/8/2003 10:40:27 AM

The Bernat eyelash is pretty inexpensive for playing with (I think it's only like $4/skein) When I was at this one craft store they had some eyelash that was upwards of $11/skein & good gravy was that stuff *soft* It was like freakin' butter, certainly didn't feel like "nylon" as I know it.

Your stitches will probably loosen up over time, I know mine have from the time I began.

Re: nice!

Thanks! I got the pattern out some afghan crochet book - name is escaping me & I'm too lazy to go dig it out & look lol It was all "quick & easy" type afghans though & had a lot of patterns.
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/7/2003 7:19:10 PM

*laughs* Not at all!

*clears throat & begins translation*

-Row 1:

3 dc in 4th ch from hook (3sipped chs count as a dc and a ch-1 sp)

*sk next 2 chs, 3 DC in next ch*

Ok, I'm guessing you know how to start in the 4th chain from the hook, but if not, let me know & I"ll clarify *laughs* So you make 3 cd in the 4th chain. Technically you now have a dc, a single chain space & 3 dc in the 4th ch. You then count 3 more chains *after* the one you just did the 3 dc in. So, this would be the 7th ch from the hook & make 3 dc in that ch. You're making "shells" here, they will look like little fans when you're done :)

Repeat from * to last 2 chains. Skip next ch, DC in last ch, Chain 2, Turn.

This one, to me, sounds straightforward, but if it's not to you yet, lmk & I'll explain :)

-Row 2:

2 DC b'ween first DC and next 3-DC group

Ok, you're going to make a single dc in the *space* between the dc you just made in the previous row & the last set of 3 dc. You won't actually be crocheting in a "stitch" like usual. Instead, just slip the hook in the "gap" between those groups & "pretend" you're crocheting through a stitch. If you need visuals on this, lmk & I'll scan a pic for you

*3 DC in between each DC Group*

Same thing as above, except now you're doing 3 dc in the "gap" between the 3dc groups from the previous row.

Repeat from * ending 1 DC under turning chain. Chain 2, Turn

When you get to the end, where there's the first 3dc group you worked on that row & the ch3 that you skipped when you started, you work a single dc in that "gap" This is might look slightly weird since that last dc on Row 1 is technically a chain, but it will pull itself up "right" as you finish the dc you're working. Just resist the urge to work in one of those chs & use the "gap" lol

If there's anything you need clarified just tell me :)

I love you. *blows kisses*

I will print this out and try it; if I can't understand it, I'll come whining to you again, lol. BTW; how many skeins of yarn (probably Caron Simply Soft) would it take to make this, do you think?
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/7/2003 8:29:22 PM

*laughs & catches kisses, tucking them safely away in my hook case* hehe Thanks :)

How big are you making it? You could probably do "baby" size 30"x40" with 3 or 4 skeins. Adult size is probably going to take around 9-10.

From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/8/2003 8:28:30 AM

Wow, that's a lot of yarn! I'm not sure how big; I was thinking more like a throw size. And hopefully a small one for Sarah.
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/8/2003 10:37:31 AM

Yeah afghans take in the "thousands" of yards, I think simple soft only has like 300 yds per skein. I'm thinking there was this afghan pattern I saw a long time ago that was similar (mostl shells) & I think that one used around 2500 yds (it was pretty large too, about 70" x something)
From: [info]ariestess
Date: 12/7/2003 9:29:35 PM

Oooooers...Very nice. Are the patterns available?

I have a couple afghans to finish up yet, too...
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/7/2003 9:39:15 PM

I have no patterns, because I can't read them, lol.

For the hat, I did this: http://shop.mmm-fruit.com/img/instruct_foldoverhat.gif - it was very easy and my crooked edges were hidden by turning the hat inside out after stitching up the sides. And then I sewed tassels onto the corners.

The scarf was 165 chain stitches, and then nine rows of DC with a "J" hook. I crochet pretty tight though, so yours may be less - it's five feet long, not counting fringe. Then I tied bunches of six pieces of yarn each onto the ends, into the part where you chain 3 to turn - nine on each end. Did that make sense?
From: [info]ariestess
Date: 12/8/2003 1:05:39 AM

kewl! Thanks! I'll have to see about making one of those hats one of these days...

After I finish the 3 afghans I want to make [have I mentioned how much I love granny squares?]
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/8/2003 8:26:45 AM

I'd like to do one with granny squares, but two things worry me:

1) I'm not sure I could get them all the same size... my crochet is very, erm, free-style right now. I posess very little uniformity.

2) How do you attach them all in the end, so that the seams don't look all lumpy and weird?
From: [info]ariestess
Date: 12/8/2003 12:18:29 PM

1. So make the afghan one huge granny square. It'll be a nice big square afghan. There's a pattern I'm working on right now [of course, I'm making a few modifications...because I can *g*] like that. You can see the pattern here

2. You can do one of two things:
a] Use a yarn needle to "sew" them together.
b] Use a crochet hook and single crochet stitch them together. [Note: This looks nice when you use a big P hook to make bigger squares .. and the afghan gets made faster].
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/8/2003 12:34:02 PM

Personally, I prefer square blankets... otherwise I can't figure out how it goes, and we spend half the night fighting over it because it's too narrow. lol
From: [info]ariestess
Date: 12/8/2003 12:39:26 PM

I like your crafts stuff. I should send you some of my crafty cards.

Here's what I do: I use my acrylics to paint 'textures' and patterns sort of. Then I cut out the pieces into shapes and assemble them into simple scenes and glue them onto cards. Erika took my last bunch for her office.

I also painted a wooden nutcracker model I got from Crayola that came out pretty good.
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/9/2003 10:26:13 AM

The cards sound really cool! I keep intending to make my own cards (with old wrapping paper and stuff), and never get around to it. That's part of the craft stuff that I need to organise: a garbage bag full of "used" holiday and birthday paper and cards and tags and bows that I need to do *something* with. I'm way too messy to try painting my own... :)

I love nutcackers, but I've never seen a paint-your-own version. Is it full-size and usable? We bought a little "blank" wooden firetruck for Sarah that we're painting pink and purple, and as long as it's taken us to do that, I shudder to think how long a nutcracker would take!

From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/9/2003 5:39:35 PM

Yes, all wire. It's the lizard base with a thicker tail (and maybe a wider head; I need to look), and then the 2 wings and the jaw are three seperate pieces.

What most people mistakenly refer to as "pony" beads. Pony beads are about a 5/0 to 8/0 size, or an "E" bead. Crow beads are those big 6-9mm beads.

I buy the nuts in the shell every fall/winter (I like cracking nuts, what can I say :), and they think the wobbly walnuts rolling noisely across the hardwood floors is the funniest thing ever. For the record, it's NOT.

I don't get to watch CI as much, because it bugs Rusty the way that guy ( D'Onofrio, I guess) always figures everything out single-handedly. He says the other characters are probably all saying "Hey, when do *I* get to be smart?!?" lol

You are the very *first* person on my waiting list! AND... in early January I will be breeding WYSIWYG to my precious Sabine for mink and blue dumbos, some rex. I put you down for that litter, since you said you wanted a blue rex dumbo.

Not many girls in this (Hoggle x Sabine) litter, though there is one poor little naked girl that nobody wants...
From: [info]jacquez
Date: 12/11/2003 11:31:26 AM

Well...

in my big cage, I have room for 8, and only have 4 right now.

So if no one wants her, I'd be delighted to have her. If I can still have one from the other litter, because, well, still want a blue rex dumbo. Hairlesses are so adorable, though, and I miss having them. The two I got from [info]muridae were such dears.
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/11/2003 11:37:31 AM

She's all yours, and the blue rex dumbo, too. Can't have that big cage going to waste! :)

I'll take a picture of her later for you. The hairless seem exceptionally sweet to me. Maybe they try harder because they know some people think they're funny-looking. Maybe the other rats make fun of them. Maybe I think too much about these things...
From: [info]jacquez

Here they are: http:www.purplestardust.com/rats/hairless_chicks.jpg - well, they're almost hairless, anyway. I'm guessing another week. Note the crazy ears on the one on the right! I can tell them apart (Crazy Ear is a self, the one on the left is a berk and has an inch of would-be white on her tail) so you have a preference, let me know! They're both very sweet. :)

Now, if I had said "Our goal is to provide tasty treats for your reptilian friends", I could see how there could be some confusion. As it's phrased now, not so much.

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your [journal], or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

From: [info]sjcarpediem

Well, it really depends on what food you're talking about, for example:

I like carrots, but only those little ones that've been peeled and cut.

I like tomatoes, but only fresh, and never stewed or in a sauce.

etc.

Also, a lot of foods I like in one dish, but not in another, or no tby itself, etc....

Re: I'll give you three...

Awww, that's cool. I became fascinated with pigeons when I started attending PSU. Since I had no friends, I would go outside on my long breaks between classes, and watch pigeons. There was a mother pigeon with a nest and eggs a couple of years ago--I'd go sit on the balcony right next to it every day, and she didn't care. If I brought food out, she would eat crumbs. I was excited to see the baby birds. Then one day I went out at my usual time, and someone had stomped all over the nest and broken the eggs. The mama bird was gone. I sat down and cried. :( I can't even imagine what would make someone do that.

I'm kind of trapped in that time between college and adulthood, what comedian Aaron Karo calls the Whatever Years. I make more money than my mother but half the time have none. I'll go to a concert on a Wednesday and then stay home alone on a Saturday night.

I'm female. I'm left-handed. I'm a natural (dirty) blond. I like AP Style. I was raised in New York State and live in Arlington, Virginia. I like animals, love my NetFlix, and hate the fact that I often wake up early on the weekends now. I recently began a six-month Introduction to Judaism class and a 10-week Hebrew class and am considering conversion.

I work as a contracted editor for America Online's Digital City. I assign reviews among about 10 freelance writers and a few photographers for nightlife, concerts and venues, bars, clubs -- so basically my job is all about fun. I also program nightlife pages. I do this for Atlanta, Raleigh and Charlotte. I used to be the Tampa Bay editor and before that, I was the copy editor. And this is all in six months! You can see what I do at www.digitalcity.com.

I share a one-bedroom apartment in Arlington, VA, with an opinionated, not-quite-four-pound rabbit, Zoe. I'm about six miles from Washington, DC, and live about as far away from DC but still be in Arlington as possible. I love DC and I hope that when I no longer work in Hicksville, VA that I can once again be crammed into the city.

So who or what am I? I am a happy, creative, silly, sexy, towheaded, slope-nosed, gap-toothed, long-toed, pink-nippled, fun-jobbed, bunny-owning, Mac-using, Sims-playing, automatic-driving, gel-pen-using, contacts-wearing, Tori-Amos-listening, [info]cohene-dating, passionate and compassionate human being.

I kicked Ghaleon's ass and finished Lunar Legend. So the question is, what do I play now?

I have the Phantasy Star Collection. The problem is, I never really got into PS1 or PS2 on Sega, and while PS3 was okay, I never could finish the damned thing. I really wish they'd release Phantasy Star 4 on GBA; it was my favourite of the series. Anyway, I started PS1 last night, but I'm not sure if I'll keep playing. The graphics bug me (especially after playing Lunar!), and Alis is all tall and skinny, and I prefer the little short RPG characters, ala Dragon Warrior.

Oooh, Dragon Warrior. Come to think of it, I do have Dragon Warrior 1-2, Dragon Warrior 3, and Dragon Warrior Monsters for GBC... maybe I should play one of those.

*chants* DW! DW! DW!
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/12/2003 11:40:02 AM

You like DW too? I thought nobody liked DW, except me and Laurie! It was my very first RPG, on my very first system (Nintendo), so it has much nostalgic value for me. Every RPG that I've played since, I compare to DW. In fact, I don't usually even like the "new" RPGs (ie Final Fantasy 10) because they're too "graphicy". I even started a community, which I suppose I should pay more attention to...
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/12/2003 12:11:51 PM

I started with FF on my Nintendo (won't even touch on my unhealthy obsession there) & then moved on to DW & I loved it almost as much hehe I still play my old 8bits on an emu on my mac (still have the cartridges, but system has long since disappeared into the black hole of my house)

Speaking of DW 8bit characters - my friend sent me a link for a D&D mpeg with them, it was one of the most hysterical things I've evern seen - took me right back to high school days. *pause* Of course I can't find the damn link in my history now *longer pause* Aha! Here is it!

I do love the new eye candy with the newer games, probably because it goes so well with my anime preference. But there's still nothing like breaking out an old 8bit on the Sega or Nintendo. I have the PSx cds with the old 8bit FF collection on them. I wish they'd put out some more of other old rpgs with like "eye candy" cut scenes, but all the play still in the 8bit format.
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/12/2003 1:36:54 PM

OMG, that movie was HYSTERICAL... so much so that it merited a new icon (or two). =D

I wish they'd put out some more of other old rpgs with like "eye candy" cut scenes, but all the play still in the 8bit format.

That would be PERFECT. Lunar is like that; the characters in action look a lot like the DW people, but then there are lovely anime scenes in between the action.
From: [info]sioranth
Date: 12/12/2003 2:06:55 PM

*laughing hysterically at icon* That's classic! I love it! I thought you might appreciate the humor in it hehe

That's what I loved about the FF games they put together in that PSx package - all the play is still "old" nintendo, but they put in these really nice cinemas to go along with it.

From: [info]purple_stardust

That's a shame: rats really are sweet little things... it sucks that they get such bad press. I mean really, if I had only seen the movies, I wouldn't like them either!

The lists really help me. For one thing, it helps me remember what I need to do - I tend to get side-tracked if left to my own devices. But also, posting it publically (well, semi-publically) helps too, because then you don't want people to think you didn't do anything all day, lol. I swear, I'm *this* close to getting midevil on someone at Adelphia.

So about four weeks ago, I went to the bank and deposited money. I came home and used my debit card to pay my Adelphia (cable and internet) bill online, because the bill was already late. They thanked me for paying them, and I think everything is cool. A few weeks ago, I got a new bill from Adelphia. It credits my account for the amount that I had paid online, and says that I only owe this month's bill, due today. So again I think, everything is cool.

Today, they came and shut off my cable. So I call them up and ask what's going on (because it went off last night too), and the woman tells me that it's been disconnected for non-payment. I ask her how that can be, when the current month's bill is due today. She tells me that I'm like, three months behind. I tell her that I paid the past-due bill, and that it even shows this on my current bill, which patiently I read aloud to her. She tells me that the payment wasn't accepted.

Now, this does make sense, because I'd deposited the money in the morning, and then paid the bill before 2pm (which is when my bank credits morning deposits). So I can see the payment not going through (though most online places check right there to see if your card will support the payment). But that aside, if the payment didn't go through, then why the hell wasn't I informed until almost four weeks later, when they shut it off?!? Why would they not call me, and tell me that the payment wasn't accepted? Why didn't they email me? Why was there no disconnect warning? No, all *I* got, was a new bill saying that I HAD paid the old bill!

Anyway, the point is, I'm seriously thinking about taking the money and getting one of those satellite services instead, and going back to dial-up. I do not need this crap.

I had Dish network. They came out and put it on the house. It worked most of the time (occasional blizzards notwithstanding) and it was CHEAP. Lordy, it was cheap. Plus, I got CNN International. Which was what I wanted.
From: [info]purple_stardust
Date: 12/16/2003 6:42:29 PM

Excellent, thanks! The more I think about it, the more I think I'm gonna ditch Adelphia. Since this afternoon, I've heard about two other people in this area that they've screwed out of money; one with pay-per-view charges for movies they never ordered and one who was billed for HBO that he didn't ask for, plus a third person that is just annoyed with their service - apparently they're pissing people off right and left.

I will miss the cable modem, but it isn't worth this aggravation.

So after the Adelphia incident, I hooked the antenna up to the television, and guess what! I can get all the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) without the stupid shiester cable company! So that's what we've been doing. I thought at first that I would have to run right out and get Dish Network, but so far I'm okay with just the basic network channels.

Of course, I do miss some cable stuff: Law & Order reruns on TNT, the Food Network channel, and cable news, mostly. But on the flip side, we have no ESPN now! Hooray for no ESPN! I may get the satellite service eventually, but I'm sufficiently happy with just network, for now.

And now, onto the important issue... no Adelphia meant no cable internet, either. I got another AOL account, and was instantly reminded of how much I hated dial-up. However, my wonderful friend Sandy did some digging, and found out that Verizon DSL is now available in my area! I ordered it, and it should be up and running by 12/24. Only one more week of dial-up hell!

You have not yet given us the dirty dish on your annoying in-laws. In fact, you have not posted anything and therefore I miss you. =(

When I reluctantly agreed to visit the in-laws, I was under the impression that we would be going to Rusty's parents' house. Instead, we ended up staying with Rusty's brother, the murderer. Friday night was the big dinner. I sat across from a crusafix and was offered a choice of pork roast or ham (I ate neither). Rusty and his stupid brothers spent about ten minutes with their mother before going down to the den to watch football.

When their mother (who is older and in poor health) said that she was tired and had to do the gift exchange, they reluctantly dragged themselves away from the football, hurridly opened their gifts and said their goodbyes, and went back down for another football game. When that game ended, they stayed up until 3am talking about football. I played with my Gameboy for a while, and then got tired of being ignored and went to bed. Needless to say, no one noticed.

Saturday morning, we had breakfast - bacon, what a surprise. These folks do love their fried pig. After that, we went over to Rusty's parents' house, where they listened to yet another football game on the radio (his parents don't have cable), and then we left.

I will not be going back to Pennsylvania during football season, ever again.

Re: murderer?

I think they *mean* well (well, most of them, anyway), but they're just clueless to any type of lifestyle other than their own.

Murderer: yeah. He shot and killed their other brother about ten years ago. The family is heavily in denial about it, and they act like Scott died, but not violently, and certainly not because OJ shot him in the chest with a shotgun. They act like he died in a car accident or something, and they treat OJ like nothing ever happened. It's really weird. :\

Re: murderer?

Oh man. I can really feel for the family though - I think I can understand why they would think that way. There obviously can't have been enough evidence for him to be convicted though...

Re: murderer?

You've mentioned it before, and the whole thing just seems really weird and tragic and bizarre and sad. Was there a trial?

Oh, sorry, I don't mean to pry, because I'm sure it's a very touchy subject. =(

Re: murderer?

It isn't touchy to ME, because MY family is reletively normal, or at least, we don't usually shoot at each other. ;)

I don't *think* there was a trial, per se. Basically what happened was, both of them (OJ and Scott) were drinking and acting like assholes. Scott left for a while and then came back, and probably was threatening to kick OJ's ass, and OJ shot him. The reason that OJ didn't go to jail is because it was supposedly self-defense. The reason that *I* don't buy that is because Scott was unarmed and OJ had to go back into the house to get the shotgun - he could have just as easily gone inside and locked the doors, and even called the police if he were honestly concerned for his well-being. Instead, he shot his own brother in the chest with a shotgun, and left two kids fatherless.

I know I sound flippant about it, and it really is tragic, and I do feel badly for their family... but at the same time it really does freak me out how they act like none of it ever happened.
