I am happy that your loved ones escaped injury...and even more happy that the other person has insurance.

Whoa. How scary! Call your homeowner's insurance too; the other guy's auto insurance may or may not be completely cooperative, but it's in your company's best interest to ensure that they are. (Also, if you might have to file a claim later, best to get the incident on record early.)
Ohh, really? I thought their insurance would take care of it. Okay, will do. Thanks for the advice!

The driver's insurance is supposed to cover it. But they might be slime, or he might not have bought enough coverage, or he may convince them that the accident wasn't really his fault and that could delay paying claims, or... all sorts of things can happen. The best thing to do is to call your insurance company, tell them what happened, tell them who the other insurance company is, and ask them how to proceed. Don't file multiple claims; just keep everyone in the loop and do what your company tells you to do. Otherwise it may take you longer to get your money, and meanwhile you've got a tippy column out front.
Good luck.

That IS weird...but I'm glad you're safe!!!
What's really weird is, we live in town! I would expect this if we lives on some windy little country road, but it doesn't seem like you could get that out of control in town.
That shit happened to me in MY victorian. More than once. I was right on an alley and they'd take the corner to fast and WHOMP! into the house. Shook the whole house and woke me up.
Geez... who knew Victorians were such car magnets?

Well crap.
The house across from my apartment was hit by a car, some dumb kid going too fast running away from cops, and it was totally fine. I guess old houses can stand some stuff like that. I hope yours is ok! it's so pretty.
Thanks! I love my house, and you're right... old houses, like old cars, are WAY sturdier than their newer counterparts. :)

OMG YOUR HOUSE WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT!!! That's horrifying!
Good thing you have that lovely raised porch, or it could have gone straight into the living room. =(
