Went to Petsmart to look for a pen for Bunnicula, but they didn't have them in the right size, so I just got her another bag of timothy hay - she goes through that stuff! I also stopped at Target and bought food and water bowls for my grandmother's cats, since they'll be sequestered for a while. Poor kitties, I hope they'll adjust okay to their new home, and their new house-mates.

And then I took the kids to Toys R Us today. Yesterday was Steven's birthday (14!), and I gave him money, so of course he had to spend that. Chris had some money too, so they each got stuff for themselves as well as purple Matchbox cars for their little sister. I got SimCity 2000 and a snifty little case for my GBA, because well, I don't want to grow up. I'm a Toys R Us kid.

In other news, my frogspawn has split into two heads, hooray!

It turns out, my uncle gave my grandmother's cats to a friend of hers. I'm sure Helen will give them a good home, though I'm none too thrilled with my uncle for making that decision without consulting with my mother or me. There's one more cat - an outside one - that I'd love to have, but she's basically feral, so I have my doubts about catching her. She's a long-haired orange female, and absolutely gorgeous. Still, I may see if we can bribe her, or something...

Wow, it's been ages since I updated. Last weekend, we visited Rusty's parents. It wasn't too bad, mostly because there was no football on, and all his obnoxious brothers weren't around. Still, it's sooooo boring up there, and I really have nothing in common with those people. Bah.

I've been letting Bunnicula out to free-range in the evenings and I think she might be getting friendlier, at least she doesn't bite us quite so often. I finally got my bunny book in the mail yesterday, so I'm hoping that will help me understand and thwart some of her bad behaviour.

I really need to get some of this stuff done...

How did I miss this entry? I was wondering where you were and missing you, and all along you had updated. Also, do you still use the same screen name on AIM? Whenever I go on, you're not there, and it makes me sad.

I thought the bunny was a boy? Did you get another bunny as a companion for the bitey one and I missed it?

I do not know how you missed this entry. I guess you just weren't paying attention. =P

I do still use the same screen name; I just always forget to log on. I am blonde that way. I also leave the phone unplugged for days at a time. And then I wonder why nobody ever talks to me.

The bunny... it WAS supposed to be a boy, but now we think it's a girl for three reasons:

a) she has no testicles.
b) she has a dewlap, which usually sign of girliness.
c) she appears to have had a false pregnancy, nest-building and all that.

Damn mystery rabbit.

We went to Petsmart yesterday and bought a playpen that hooks onto Bunnicula's cage. Her regular cage is pretty small, so this gives her more room to move and play (and terrorise the cats), but she still can't chew on cords or pee on the bed, so we're all happy with it.

In other news, Ms Bunny has an appointment to be spayed on August 2.

Yeah, they're great. Not that we have such valuable stuff (or that we keep what we do have on the floor, lol), but I am more worried about her chewing on cords and cables (we DO have a ton of those). Plus it's easier to get her into her cage when we have to leave or go to bed.

There is a guy who has a whole website devoted to photos of his bunny with things on its head. At first I thought they were different bunnies, and people had sent them in, but no, they're all the same bunny, a strange little guy named Oolong. What I wonder now is, why? Why would the bunny just sit still and let some fool pile things on his head? Is the bunny lethargic? On drugs? Does he suffer from low self esteem? Japanese rabbits must be more complacent than their American counterparts, because Beatrix would bite my arm off if I tried such things.

We had the memorial service for my grandmother; it wasn't too bad, considering. The service was as un-christy as possible, considering we did have her favourite pastor do it, and it was outside, and relatively short. My mom showed up with the lesbian posse, which was odd, but I showed up with two men (Rusty and my ex-husband), so I guess it all evened out.

The worst part was afterwards when various people - some related to me, most I didn't know - tried to hug me. I really need a shirt that says "Don't Touch Me".

We stopped at the petstore for bunny food, and ended up with another bunny. Meet Baxter, a little grey french lop. We had actually intended to wait until Bea was spayed (next week) but this little guy was so sweet and so perfect, we went ahead and got him, and will just keep them seperate until she is fixed and healed. Beatrix has seen him but seems altogether uninterested, so I'm hoping that she won't maul the poor little guy when they DO finally meet.

whoa. hangon..

It's great that there's a new addition to the family, but you don't want to toss them together full time right away. For the first few meetings, you want to put them into a neutral place (I tend to use the bathtub), because rabbits are very territorial. Especially with this one being so young... Please be careful when trying to combine bunnies when one is used to being alone...
From: [info]purple_stardust

Re: whoa. hangon..

Oh, I didn't mean right away! Right now their cages are close together so that they can see/smell each other, after Bea's surgery I will start with the brief-and-neutral intros. I will probably use the playpen tho, since I would have to carry them (Bea HATES being carried) upstairs to the bathroom.
